PE/GROSS MOTOR GROUPS

GHA provides a unique approach to learning in that it believes that students need to be regulated, with consistent exercise, fresh air, and heavy input in order to be able to focus and learn in the classroom. With this model in mind GHA provides PE/Gross Motor groups to students three times A DAY. This input allows students to not only self regulate, it provides daily building of core strength and muscle tone, increased opportunities to cross midline, and develop motor planning. All of this lays the foundation for a child to maintain appropriate table top posture, as well as the ability to sit upright during circle time; which builds on their academic endurance to attend to school work. Without the heavy emphasis on these skills a student may struggle with the day to day expectations in the class room, fatigue easy, or have a general avoidance to demanding tasks.
